CommentsDevious CommentsOh wow. X3 The butt was the last thing I was paying attention to. I know nothing about horses (so I'm still trying to figure out why I have centaur characters? Huh) but this will hopefully help me in the future. As for the short legs, I was actually wondering about that, but I thought if I made them too much longer they'd get all tangled when he was running. DX My mom commented not that the legs were short, but that the body looked long, ha ha.
Next time I should reference photos, huh? X3 And when you say the style's simplified, does that just mean it's too cartoony to be considered realistic, but it get the point across? If I'm going for something, that's probably it. Thank you very much for everything! Glad you took a look at this picture, and WiF! -- World in Flames Latest update: Page 64 - Updates Sundays! HAHA! I'm a leg person XD i guess thats why I went for the legs LOL!
BUT BUT, think of it this way, you are drawing centaurs all the time and its good practice to get good at drawing the horse parts By simplified I mean... well what I really mean is animate-able Anyways, I've got your comic in my links bar waiting eagerly for the next update -- Oh, cool! I'm half-thinking of animating it into a movie or something when it's all done... That'll be a while, though, considering it's taken me almost a year to finish two chapters. DX Yeah, before I started I HATED horses but I threw in a centaur spur-of-the-moment for reasons that now escape me. I'm learning to work with it until I like it. :3
Waiting for the next update? Well lucky you! That's tomorrow! -- World in Flames Latest update: Page 64 - Updates Sundays! |
I'm enjoying your comic so far
On to your picture: I think it overall is very appealing and beautiful. The subtlety of the background really makes the character the focus. I'm assuming this is meant sort of like a model sheet in how its presented but if its not, I'd be craving some sort of foreground element to tie the image together.
as for the character himself, I really love his overall look. the style of him (an your whole comic) is simplified but still loaded with details with a great colour scheme. I like the shape of his face and the improvements you mentioned are great.
the horse part of the anatomy has a few issues I noticed. The legs are quite short, and his rump is a bit too round. a horses butt is a little more pointed. ([link] this photo is a good example of what I mean). That photo is also a good example of where a horses tail comes out. your characters tail seems to almost start on the top where it starts right off with hair, but there is a small part that extends off the spine that is still the regular coat, then the tail hair comes in and hangs off after that little space.
Those are picky little things of course, but the little things are important sometimes
Anyways, overall like I said, its a great piece. I'm really enjoying your comic! I'm especially drawn to the characters eyes, which are all wonderfully expressive!
