What the buttons?
Artists relations started doing its updates in the form of journals on the Gallery directors pages. The journals are then linked in the official AR newsletter when its posted as news by $
Moonbeam13, and eventually made into a hot topic that will be sent to your message centre.

Nothing really new other than, I ADORE posting DD's from such a brilliant gallery so full of amazing skills. I am trying to make the most of my position and do my best to serve the community in the best way possible. if you have suggestions for me to do this, then by all means send me a note or email. I only ask that you make your subjects clear in your notes so I can prioritise them.
My DA 'face' has been a little bit hidden these past couple weeks, but I assure you something fun is in the works as a result. aside from that, I have also acquired a second day job and i am also painting a mural, I hope to photograph when its complete. These things have been eating up some of my time. However, I have made my GD abilities more mobile by taking my news templates, and DD tracker etc all into
igoogle. I was a Google junkie before, but now that little tool has just streamlined my life! HAHA!
If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to email me
guruubii@deviantart.com
If you are looking for goodies or information check the links section on the left of my normal journals, or the journal modules in my journal.
DD's
Please make sure you are sending your DD suggestions to the correct person.
FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen? I am only accepting Daily Deviation suggestions for the traditional art gallery. Manga/Anime needs to be sent do ^
RockGirl1582, ^
azarath or ^
Karma021, and Artisan Crafts needs to go to ^
dedredhed miscats, need to be reported. as always there is a list in my AR module. If you send me a suggestions for the wrong category I sometimes forward them on, but I might also direct you to the appropriate GD to do it yourself.
Animations
If you aren't an animator, then the animations category can seem strange. I understand that, however there are gallery descriptions along the path of the submission process. Ignorance is not an excuse. If you find they are unclear, or you just simply dont understand them, there are half a dozen people who can explain it to you. You can use the
Help Desk or contact me directly. I will give as much information as I can right now.
The Traditional art > Animations category is NOT short for anime. fanart, photos, or your drawings of spirit the stallion do not belong here. Animated avatars made from stolen clips from anime's are not animations either, they are violations! Pixel animations are Digital art! there is a digital art animations category. No still images should be uploaded to this category. any still image will be scrapped or moved and its your responsibility to place it where it belongs.
here are examples:
coloured animation:
pencil tests:
Animation Gallery description: Animations that belong in this category may include pencil tests, digital ink and paint animations, and story reels/animatics. Stop-motion animations also go in here. Stop-motion animations are usually made using plastercine models and taking photographs of each frame, then putting them together in a programme like Windows Movie maker and then saved as a moving image. Stop-motion animations are not limited to plastercine models, you can use any object if you can animate it. Flash animations do not belong here, they belong in the Flash category
Pencil tests
This is confusing for some people. A pencil test is simply put, the rough tests of your animations. Typically these are dont by scanning or shooting your animation to see how it looks. its like a sketch of the movement. Sometimes animating on paper is not an option, but you can use programs like
Plastic Animation paper to do your drawings. This is still acceptable as a traditional animation, as its using traditional techniques. the rough usually done in blue pencil can be exported as an AVI, and thats your pencil test. Pencil tests can also run as a clean line. So what I am saying is, Its any animation thats a work in progress. No still images belong in this category. Character model sheets and bg designs etc, belong in other categorys such as traditional art> paintings> landscapes or wherever is most appropriate.
Coloured animation
Coloured animation is for the final full colour version of your animation. Whether its a film, walk cycle or a ball bounce. if its complete, and in colour you upload your animation here. No still images belong in this category. Character model sheets and bg designs etc, belong in other categorys such as traditional art> paintings> landscapes or wherever is most appropriate.
Helping make the gallery work
There are a few things YOU can do to help make this gallery work out really well.
- Make sure you have a good preview image: that meaks, make it a screencap of your film, with a small bit of text saying its an animation and download it to view it. i like this because sometimes the preview looks like a drawing and its confusing to viewers as well as us trying to clean it.
- Report miscats: If you see any still drawings in the category, please report them using the report violation link on each devation (more on that further on in the newsletter)
- Post some animations or suggest them as DD's!!! I just like to see them!
- Drop me an email with suggestions for features, events, contests, ideas or anything you would like to see done with the category. Animations are great! they take SO much work and its such a powerful form of art and entertainment! lets show the world what classical animators can do!

Reporting deviations
Oh ya by the way! I know I've said this a bajillion times before, but please be aware of what you are reporting a violation as. A bad photo of someones erection is NOT a mis-categorized deviation, its a violation of the nudity policy. Its mis-categorized yes, but I'm not moving it from category to category, it needs to be deleted. Please report copyright violations and nudity violations with the proper options in the drop down menu
outlined here.
